Orr, who has lived and worked locally ever since, describes his practice as a pursuit of art through non-traditional media. He explained: “I tend to place extra emphasis on some material, beyond its ability as art media. Certain materials bring with them their own history, characteristics, and limitations.” In much of his collage works, such as Achilles, special focus is placed on texture and layering, a hint of a recognizable object or figure buried beneath the surface of an abstract composition.
